Question : Beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the number of beneficiaries covered under Ayushman Bharat Scheme so far along with the details thereof, State/UTwise;

(b) the number of claims made under the scheme since its launch and the status of their settlement, State/UT-wise;

(c) the names of the States where this scheme has not been implemented and the steps taken by the Government to get it implemented throughout the country;

(d) whether any steps have been taken to increase the number of seats in various AYUSH hospitals across the country; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Facilities at Ayushman Bharat- Health & Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) are free and universal to all.

The details of beneficiaries covered under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) are at Annexure I.

(b): As on 20.11.2019, the State/UT-wise number of claims made after discharge of beneficiary is 54.85 Lakh and amount of claim raised are 7608.85 Crore. State/UT –wise status of settlement of claims under AB- PMJAY is at Annexure II.
(c): Based on the proposals received from the States/UTs, AB-HWC is being implemented in all States/ UTs except UT of Delhi.

The States of Odisha, Telangana, West Bengal and UT of Delhi are not implementing AB-PMJAY. The implementation of the scheme was rolled back in the State of West Bengal on January 2019. Government of India has been requesting these State/UT Governments to join the scheme.

(d) & (e): Ministry of AYUSH is implementing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) through State/UT Governments and providing assistance to them as per the proposals received through State Annual Action Plan.


Under NAM there is a provision of financial assistance for upgradation of Standalone Government AYUSH Hospitals for undertaking construction, renovation of existing premises, furniture, fixtures, equipments etc. Under NAM, Ministry of AYUSH has sanctioned Rs. 567.39 crores till 2018-19 to open new AYUSH hospitals as well as to upgrade the existing AYUSH hospitals. However, the data regarding number of seats in AYUSH Hospitals is not maintained at the Central level.
