Question : Installed Capacity of Solar & Wind Power

(a) the current installed capacity for solar and wind power in the country, State-wise;

(b) the details of the roadmap, for creation of installed capacity for solar and wind power during the next three years, State-wise; and

(c) the initiatives taken by the Government to promote renewable energy in Jharkhand?

(a) State-wise details of solar and wind power capacity installed in the country are given at Annexure.

(b) The Government has set a target for installing 175 GW of RE capacity by 2022, of this 100 GW will come from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-mass and 5 GW from small hydro. Accordingly, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has announced a trajectory for issuing bids so as to achieve the target.

(c) The initiatives taken by the Government of India to promote renewable energy in the State of Jharkhand include the following:-

i. Announcement of a target of installing 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by March, 2022; for country as a whole including Jharkhand;
ii. Declaration of trajectory for Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) up to the year 2018-19;
iii. Declaration of Renewable Generation Obligation on new coal/lignite based thermal plants;
iv. Waiving of Inter State Transmission System charges and losses for inter-state sale of solar and wind power for projects to be commissioned up to March, 2022;
v. Notification of standards for deployment of solar photovoltaic systems/devices and
vi. Launched Atal Jyoti Yojna for Solar LED street lights in five states.
