Question : GAS BLOCKS IN MOZAMBIQUE AND SIBERIA



(a) whether Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited have acquired oil and gas blocks in Mozambique and Siberia etc.;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with investment made by the said companies in its said projects;

(c) the details of exploration of oil and gas produced from the said blocks to meet the demand in the country, block- wise; and

(d) whether the Government has signed any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of oil and gas with the countries concerned in this regard and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to c). Yes, Madam. Details are given below:

Mozambique: Oil India Limited (4%), ONGC Videsh Limited a subsidiary of ONGC (16%) and BPRL a subsidiary of BPCL (10%) have acquired Participating Interest (PI) in Rovuma Area 1 in Mozambique offshore.

Siberia: OIL India Limited (50%) has acquired PI in a producing block License 61 in Western Siberia, Tomsk.

ONGC Videsh Limited has acquired Imperial Energy Corporation Plc. having its main operations in the Tomsk region of Western Siberia, Russia.
