Question : Doctorate Programmes under AYUSH

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY (AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to start Ph.D programmes under AYUSH disciplines in selected universities in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the institutions identified for the purpose;

(c) whether Government has prepared any syllabus or course structure for the proposed scheme;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether Government has any plan to provide clinical and basic research studies in these proposed schemes and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) No, As per University Grant Commission (UGC), the Universities have the academic freedom to start Ph.D. programme under AYUSH discipline with due approval of the respective statutory councils and in accordance with the Ph.D. Regulations notified by UGC with the specialisation indicated within parenthesis.
Further, the Ministry of AYUSH through its Research Councils have initiated a fellowship programme wherein scholars will be selected for grant of fellowship from this Ministry to pursue Ph.D. programmes from Universities/Institutes of their choice.
