Question : NEET Exam for AYUSH Course

Will the Minister of AYURVEDA, YOGA AND NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY(AYUSH) be pleased to state:

(a) whether any course of AYUSH has been included in colleges in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the list of colleges in which the course for AYUSH is currently available, State/UT-wise, location-wise;

(c) the eligibility criteria to take admission in AYUSH courses;

(d) whether students who cleared the NEET exam will be permitted to take admission in AYUSH courses; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

(a) & (b): The details permission of ASU&H colleges for the academic year 2020-21 is available in public domain and can be accessed at https://main.ayush.gov.in/event/list-permitted-asuh-colleges

(c): The candidate must have passed intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination recognized by the concerned State Government and Education Board with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the aforesaid qualifying examination in the case of general category and 40% Marks in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. In respect of persons with disability candidate specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the minimum qualifying marks in the said qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall be 45% in the case of general category and 40% in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
(d): A uniform entrance examination namely the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to under-graduate Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (ASU & H) courses is conducted for each academic year by an authority designated by the Central Government.

(e): In order to be eligible for admission to under-graduate ASU & H course for an academic year, it is necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in the NEET for under-graduate course’ held for the said academic year: Further, Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. Candidates with benchmark disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile in the case of general category and 40th percentile in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
