(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c)whether the Government has any such system which can reflect centre-wise and medicine-wise shortage and if so, the details thereof?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER IN THE MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS
(SHRI D.V. SADANANADA GOWDA)

(a) & (b) Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), the implementing agency of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) makes regular efforts for making all the drugs in its product basket available to the consumers through its more than 7,500 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs). Sometimes, some drugs could not be made available due to non-receipt of valid bids for the particular drug/non-supply by a vendor. Floating tenders for required medicines are being issued regularly to avoid any stock-out situation.

(c) BPPI has implemented IT enabled SAP based forecasting system for efficient inventory management. This system forecasts the demand of medicines, take real-time orders from Jan Aushadhi Kendras, identify purchase level and tracks the delivery of purchase orders issued. The system ensures that medicines are purchased on right time and made available to Kendras timely.
