(a) the details of the Fishing Harbours functioning in the country, State-wise;
(b) the steps taken for development of these harbours so far; and
(c) the funds allocated, released and utilized for the purpose during the last three years
and thereafter, State-wise?
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (SHRI TASLIMUDDIN)
(a): State-wise details of the fishing harbours functioning at present in the country are at
Annexure-I.
(b): The Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Government
of India, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, has been providing financial assistance to the
coastal State Governments/Union Territories and Major Port Trusts for development of fishing
harbours in their respective States/UTs. Funding assistance to the tune of 50% of project cost
has been provided to beneficiary states/Port Trusts for construction of minor fishing harbours.
In case of UTs and major fishing harbours, the funding is cent percent. Assistance is also given
under the scheme for modernization/expansion of existing fishing harbours.
(c): A statement indicating State-wise details of central funds allocated, released and utilized
during the last three financial years for the purpose of developraent of fishing harbours in the
country is at Annexure-11.
