Question : Use of Difficult Words in School Text Books

(a) whether the Government is aware that there are complaints of many difficult words used in
the books prescribed for course of secondary education in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to mitigate the problems faced by the students in this
regard?

(a) & (b) As per available information, no complaint relating to difficult words used in the
books prescribed by National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for
courses of secondary education have been received.
(c) NCERT has developed the textual and supplementary materials based on the vision of
National Curriculum Framework-2005 and the content is selected in accordance with the interest,
relevance and familiarity of the children with lesson/texts.
