Question : FUNDS FOR BODO REGIONAL COUNCIL



(a) whether the Government has made any provision for the development of Bodo Regional Council during the current financial year;

(b) if so, the details thereof, indicating the head under which the said budgetary pro visions have been made;

(c) whether the Government had earlier provided budget allocation from Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources and North – Eastern States Development Fund for the development of the said council; and

(d) if so, the details of budgetary provisions made during the last five years?

(a) Rs. 50.00 crore has been made available to the Ministry as Budget Estimates 2009 – 10 for Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Package.

(b) The budgetary estimates 2009 – 10 for BTC Package have been provided under the following Head /Sub – Head:

3601-GRANTS-IN-AID TO STATE GOVERNMENTS (Major Head) 05-Grants for Special Plan Schemes 05.104 Special Package for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) 01- Special Development Package 01.01.31- Grants –in -Aid

(c)& (d) Till 2006-07, the funds under ‘Special Package’ for BTC were released from the combined Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Budget- Head of this Ministry. However, from the year 2007 – 08, there is a separate provision for funding of BTC projects under ‘Special Package’, outside NLCPR, and Rs. 100 crore was allocated for this purpose for the years 2007 – 08 and 2008 - 09. The details of budgetary provisions made during the last five years under NLCPR for BTC Package are as under:
