Question : Funds to Voluntary Organisations under NYKs

(a)the number of youth benefited from the Voluntary Organisations (VOs) receiving funds under Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYKs) scheme during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and scheme wise;

(b)the number of trained applicants who became self employed and got employment in other institutions during the said period, State/UT-wise;

(c)whether the Government has launched any scheme called ‘Punarjagran’ (Rejuvenation) under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the salient features thereof?

(a) Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan does not provide funds to any Voluntary Organisation.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) & (d) Yes Madam. A year-long Youth Awakening Programme called Punarjagran(Rejuvenation) has been launched by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS). The programme was inaugurated on 2nd October,2014( Birth Anniversay of Mahatma Gandhi) from four corners of India namely, Leh (J&K) in North , Okha (Gujarat) in West, Kanyakumari(Tamil Nadu) in South and Roing (Arunachal Pradesh) in North East. The programme will culminate at Mathura (UP), the birth place of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on 25th September,2015, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. The objective of the Punarjagran programme is to generate a youth movement in the county, involve them in spreading messages of patriotism, peace and universal brotherhood, promoting the spirit of volunteerism, campaigns against social evils, spreading awareness about Government programmes and initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Andolan, Digital India , etc.
The project will cover 100 districts on four routes and in each District 100 villages will be covered. Thus, a total of 10,000 programme will be organized in equal number of villages. In each of the targeted villages, programmes like Nukkad Natak, Skits, information on Government Schemes, cultural programmes and distribution of IEC material and compendium of schemes on the identified themes are being organized.

The Punarjagran Yatra is being conducted in 3 slots. In 1st slot 20 Districts have been covered while in 2nd and 3rd slot 40 Districts each are being covered, totaling 100 Districts. Finally, on 25th September,2015, about 10,000 youth representing all 100 districts will assemble at Mathura for a National Youth Convention.
