Question : ANTYODAYA YOJANA



(a) whether the Government is planning to launch a new scheme called Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana (DDUAY) for providing livelihood opportunities and skill training to the urban poor in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the salient feature of the scheme; and

(c) the number of youths likely to be trained under the programme in the next three years, State-wise?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION (SHRI BABUL SUPRIYO)

(a)& (b):Yes, Madam. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation has moved a proposal to enhance the scope of National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) and implement it as ‘Deendayal Antyoday Yojna – Shahri Ajivika Mission’. The proposal is currently at the stage of appraisal.

(c):The Employment through Skill Training & Placement (EST&P) component of the ongoing NULM aims at providing skill training to urban poor so that they can find gainful employment or set up self-employment ventures or secure salaried employment. The state-wise target for skill training for the current year is at Annexure. In 2015-16 and 2016-17, 8.00 lakh candidates are likely to be trained each year.
