Question : NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP SCHEME FOR MINORITIES



(a) whether the Government has made allocations for the new scheme of National Fellowship for students of the minority community;

(b) if so, the details of the amount allocated during each of the last three years, State-wise and district-wise;

(c) the amount spent during the said period, State-wise and district-wise;

(d) the details of pending requests from various States in this regard; and

(e) the time by which sanction would be granted to each of such proposal?

(a) Yes, Madam. During the Financial Year 2009-10, a Budget allocation of Rs.15 Crore has been made for the new Scheme of National Fellowship for students belonging to the minority communities. The National Fellowship Scheme is being implemented by the University Grants Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

(b) The State-wise allocation of National Fellowship during the first year is given in Annexure.

(c) to (e) Do not arise in view of (a)&(b) above.
