Question : HOUSING PROGRAMME FOR ST IN CHHATTISGARH



(a) whether the Government proposes any housing programmes for the Schedule Tribes of Abujnmad, Birhor, Pahari, Korva, Baiga and Kamar Communities of Chhattisgarh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to provide additional fund to the State of Chhattisgarh for this; and

(d) if so, the time by which the fund is likely to be released?

(a) to (d): The State Government of Chhattisgarh has proposed assistance for housing only for the Primitive Tribal Groups under the Conservation-cum-Development (CCD) plan, namely the Abujh Maria, Baiga, Hill Korwa and Kamar. During 2007-08, the Ministry has released Rs. 700.00 lakh to the Government of Chhattisgarh for prioritized activities / programmes for PTGs which included Rs. 269.00 lakh for housing. Individual housing cannot be provided under any other scheme of this Ministry.
