Question : Trauma Centres

Will the Minister OF HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the number of trauma centres setup/proposed to be setup for treatment of the patients injured in accidents in the country, State / UT- wise/districts-wise including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra;
(b) the average distance at which trauma centres are setup for providing treatment to the patients injured in accidents at present ;
(c) the number of state-of-art/super speciality trauma centres proposed to be setup for providing treatment to the patients injured in accidents in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh and Banswara and Dungarpur district of Rajasthan;
(d) the amount of funds being spent every year for providing treatment to the patients injured in accidents in the country,State/UT-wise including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan;
(e) whether the existing trauma centres are operating through PPP mode or the cost is being borne by the public exchequer only; and
(f) the manner in which payment is being made to the said centres operating through PPP mode including the number of years for which contract has been made in this regard?

ANSWER

(a) & (b): During 11th and 12th Five Year Plan , 196 Trauma Care facilities were set up/proposed to be set up under “National Programme for Prevention and Management of Trauma and Burn Injuries” for treatment of the patients injured in accidents in the Country, State/ UT- wise/districts-wise including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The details of approved Trauma Care Facilities are attached. Establishment of designated trauma care facilities at every 100 Kms is one of the objectives of “National Programme for Prevention and Management of Trauma and Burn Injuries”.
(c) Trauma Care Facilities are set up at Dungarpur district of Rajasthan and Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh under the National Programme for Prevention and Management of Trauma and Burn Injuries.
(d)Under the aforementioned programme, funds released during 11th and 12th Five Year Plan for setting up of 196 Trauma Care Facilities are Rs 488.52 crores and Rs.285.36 crores respectively, out of which an amount of Rs 70.73 crores were released to Uttar Pradesh and Rs.36.47 crores to Rajasthan.
(e) & (f) : As per the approved norms of above mentioned programme, only Government Hospitals/Medical Colleges are being financially assisted for upgrading/strengthening the trauma care facilities.
