Question : Refusal of Scholarship

(a) Whether the Ministry has received complaints from minority students of various States
particularly Assam about refusal of scholarships under various schemes due to negligence
of local officials;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Ministry has taken any action on the complaints and if so, the details thereof
and if not, the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government proposes to stop the number of scholarship given to minority
students under various schemes and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the funds allocated and released for scholarships given to minority students under various
schemes during each of the last three years and the current year and the balance amount,
if any, pending for sanction/release under the schemes, State-wise?

(b) & (c): Does not arise.

(d): No, Madam.

(e) : There is no State-wise financial allocation under the Scholarship Schemes. Details of funds
released under the three scholarship schemes viz. Pre-matric, Post-matric and Merit-cum Means based
Scholarship Schemes during each of the last three years are annexed. The disbursal of scholarship for
the year 2016-17 is yet to commence as the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2.0) has been
operationalized on 01.07.2016.
