Question : Over Bridge Connecting Vidyavihar East and West

(a) whether the Railways has received representations from peoples representatives, various associations, Maharashtra Ministers, MPs and MLAs for construction of a rail over bridge connecting Vidyavihar East and West in Mumbai;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is true that due to lack of coordination between various stakeholders, the project is delaying;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to expedite work on the project?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2825 BY DR. KIRIT SOMAIYA TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 03.08.2016 REGARDING OVER BRIDGE CONNECTING VIDYAVIHAR EAST AND WEST

(a) and (b) : Railway have received representations from an Hon’ble Member of Parliament and also from an Hon’ble Minister Government of Maharashtra for construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) connecting Vidyavihar East and Vidyavihar West in Mumbai.
Proposal of construction of ROB, connecting Vidyavihar East and Vidyavihar West at km 17/12-13 on Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Kalyan Section was sent by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) on Deposit Terms Basis. The proposal is agreed by Railway and General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) and Temporary Arrangement Drawing (TAD) have also been approved.
(c) to (e): In June 2013, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) approached Railway with the request that the above work may be executed by Railways as a deposit work, which was agreed. In subsequent meetings held in March, 2015, it was decided by MCGM that the above work will be executed by MCGM itself including work on Railway area under Railway’s supervision. Railway have already approved GAD and TAD for the same.
