Question : Wind Mill Power Projects

(a) whether the Government has received proposals from the States to establish wind mill power projects in various backward areas of the country;
(b) if so, the total number of such proposals;
(c) the details of the action taken thereon till date;
(d) whether the Government has taken cognizance of the matter; and
(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a)to(e) The wind resource is highly site specific and its commercially exploitable potential is available only in seven states i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Karnataka. The wind power projects are set up by private developers based on techno-economic viability of the project. At present, there is no specific scheme/ programme for establishing wind power projects in backward areas of the country.
