Question : CONTINUOUS COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION SYSTEM



(a) whether the Government has introduced Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system in schools and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has given any training or orientation to teachers for effective implementation of the CCE system and if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, whether the Government proposes to conduct orientation programme for teachers in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the Government has received any representation seeking scrapping of CCE system in schools, and if so, the response of the Government in this regard?

(a): Yes, Madam. The Government has introduced Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) System in schools in all States/UTs. The CCE is mandated at elementary education level by the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also mandated a CCE system in all schools affiliated to it.

(b) & (c): The Government has provided training on CCE to teachers in Government Schools, as a part of their annual in-service training programme while the CBSE has supported its affiliated schools.

(d): The government has received representation against the “no detention” component of the CCE. A Sub- Committee of the Central Advisory Board on Education, has examined the matter and submitted its report.
