Question : Sound and Light Program at Fatehpur Sikri

(a) whether the Government is aware that there is a popular demand to start sound and light program at Fatehpur Sikri a UNESCO Monument?

(b) if so, whether the Government proposes to take any initiative in this regard and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has taken any initiative to promote Fatehpur Sikri Monument to the Indian and Foreign tourist;

(d) whether the onsite museum at Fatehpur Sikri remains open throughout the week and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) whether there is an initiative to conserve the paintings in the caves at Fatehpur Sikri along with the details of initiatives taken if any?

(a)& (b) Yes Sir. There is no such proposal at present.

(c) Efforts taken up include regular conservation, preservation depending upon need and requirement of the monument /site considering availability of funds and resources. Further, provision of visitors amenities like drinking water and toilets and facilities like pathways, ramps, signage’s in various languages, museum, cloak room, publication sale counter, guides, baby feeding room, etc. have also been provided by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

(d) Fatehpur Sikri monument remains open throughout the week. Archaeological Museum also remains open throughout the week except on every Friday.

(e) Yes Sir. A proposal has been received in this regard and is being examined.
