Question : Speciality Hospitals for Vector Borne Diseases

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has conducted any study/ research with regard to increase number of deaths due to various vector borne diseases in different parts of the country including in National Capital Territory, Delhi;

(b) if so, the outcome thereof and follow up action taken in this regard;

(c) whether the Government proposed to open speciality hospitals in a large scale for treating such diseases; and

(d) if so, the time by which such hospitals are likely to be opened?

(a) & (b): No such study has been undertaken under National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) / Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) with respect to Dengue, Chikungunya Japanese Encephalitis, Kala-azar and Lymphatic Filariasis. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has taken up a study on the disease burden on malaria in the country.

(c) & (d): NVBDCP provides guidelines for case managements of vector borne diseases through State/UT Governments.
