(b) & (c): The coal stocks at different power houses decline in certain phases due to logistics issue. However, whenever such decline is observed, coal companies take immediate necessary action to replenish the stock. In addition to the monitoring mechanism available at coal companies, coal supplies to Power Sector is monitored regularly by an inter-ministerial sub-group comprising representatives of Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal and Ministry of Railways, CEA, CIL etc. constituted by Infrastructure review Committee of Cabinet Secretariat. This Sub-Group takes various operational decisions for meeting any contingent situations relating to Power Sector including critical coal stock position for power plants. As a result of these steps taken for augmentation of supplies, the coal stock at Power House end improved significantly. Presently as on 21.11.2019, the coal stock at Power House end stands at 23.09 Million Tonne (MT), equivalent to 14 days consumption, as against the stock of 11.45 MT on 21.11.2018 which was equivalent to 7 days consumption.
