Question : Zojila Tunnel Project

(a) the details and the present status of the Zojila Tunnel Project in Jammu and Kashmir;

(b) the details of the tender/contract allotted for the project along with the funding, planning and strategy status to achieve the target within the stipulated time frame;

(c) the financial implication involved in the project along with the funds allocated/utilised for the purpose so far; and

(d) the time-frame set for completion of the project along with the steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (d) The work of construction of 14.150 km long Zojila Tunnel was awarded to M/s IL&FS Transportation networks Limited on 19.01.2018 and the Contract Agreement was signed on 24.01.2018. The work was terminated on 15.01.2019 due to financial constraints of the contractor (IL&FS Group). The work has been re-tendered on 22.02.2019 with Bid Due Date as 08. 08.2019. The funding (Total Project Cost) for the project has been approved by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for Rs. 6808.69 crore on 03.01.2018 under NH(O) on EPC basis. The time period for completion of the project is 7 years from the date of commencement.
