Question : NATIONAL SECURITY SYSTEM



(a) whether the Group of Ministers has made recommendations on Reforming National Security System;

(b) if so, the details of the recommendations;

(c) whether the Government have received any proposals/projects from coastal States for strengthening the coastal borders;

(d) if so, the details in this regard, State-wise; and

(e) the status of such proposals/projects as on date, State-wise?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The Group of Ministers has made recommendations on various aspects of national security, such as, Intelligence Apparatus, Internal Security, Border Management and Management of Defence. The recommendations on Border Management include the recommendations on Coastal Security.

(c) to (e): The Ministry of Home Affairs had invited proposals from the coastal States and Union Territories for preparation of a comprehensive and viable coastal security plan. In response to this, proposals have been received. Consideration of these proposals will be possible after the coastal security plan is approved by the Government.
