(a) the number of new telephone exchanges installed in West
Bengal, Sikkim and NER during the last three years, district-wise
and year-wise;
(b) the details of the telephone exchanges proposed to be set up
during the years 2004-05 and 2005-06 in these States, district-
wise;
(c) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) The number of new telephone exchanges installed in West
Bengal, Sikkim and NER during the last three years (i.e. 2002-03,
2003-04 and 2004-05) district-wise and year-wise is given in
Annexure-I.
(b) The details of the telephone exchanges proposed to be set-up
during the year 2005-2006 in these States, district-wise is given
in Annexure-II
(c) Already 6 exchanges have been commissioned out of 62 planned
for 2005-06.
