(a) whether the Government have a proposal for the introduction of inter –model transport system for Bangalore City; and

(b) if so, the estimate cost of the project and the likely share of the Central Government?

(a) Yes , Sir.
(b) After, a preliminary study carried out in 1998-99 for the city of Bangalore, M/s RITES had identified feasibility of an Inter-model Transport System based on upgradation of existing Railway lines for running of suburban commuter trains. For detailed assessment of the revenue and cost implication of the project, a final Detailed Project Report (DPR) is to be submitted by M/s RITES to the Government of Karnataka. The estimated cost of the project would be available only after the submission of the final report. The cost of the project will be shared in the ratio of 2/3 : 1/3 between the State Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Railways.
