Question : PARTICIPATION OF PRIVATE AGENCIES ON SECURITY MEASURES .



(a) Whether the Railways are planning to approach private agencies to advise on security measures on the sub-urban train network in the Western Railway and with the collaboration of Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. (ECIL) to procure security systems;

(b) If so, the details thereof alongwith the estimated expenditure to be incurred thereon;

(c)Whether the Railways are also planning to expand such programme in the entire Railways; and

(d) If so, the time by which the said plan is likely to be implemented for the safety of passengers in the country?

(a) Yes Sir, Western Railway has asked Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. (ECIL) and a few other agencies to study and submit suggestions for improving security measures at some important Railway Stations. Their expert opinion and suggestions are awaited.

(b) The estimated expenses can be assessed and furnished only after the receipt of the reports of concerned agencies.

(c) No, Sir.
