Question : Targets under PMAY-U

(a) whether the Government has announced any target regarding housing by the year 2022 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) in the country;

(b) if so, whether the targeted beneficiaries are mainly from EWS categories and if so, the criteria for their selection;

(c) the State/UT-wise details of houses sanctioned for the beneficiaries so far and category-wise in Maharashtra especially in Mumbai; and

(d) the total funds sanctioned and released under the Yojana so far, State/UT-wise?

STATEMENT
Statement referred to in reply to Lok Sabha Starred Question No.273 to be answered on December 16, 2021 regarding “Targets Under PMAY-U”.

(a)&(b) In pursuance of the Government’s vision of “Housing for All” by 2022, the Union Government, through Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) since 25.06.2015 for giving Central assistance to States/ Union Territories (UTs) for providing all-weather “pucca” houses to all eligible urban households, especially to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) families/households having annual income up to B 3.00 lakh. The identification of beneficiaries under PMAY-U is done by respective State/ UT Governments as per eligibility under scheme guidelines.
Besides, under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) vertical of the scheme, interest subsidy on housing loan is available to EWS/Low Income Group (LIG) households. The benefit of interest subsidy was extended to Middle Income Group (MIG) households from 01.01.2017 to 31.03.2021.
Under PMAY-U, there are no year-wise fixed targets. The houses under the scheme are sanctioned based on the project proposals received from respective State/ UT Governments as per their assessed demand. So far, around 114 lakh houses have been sanctioned against assessed demand of 112 lakh houses, of which around 90 lakh have been grounded for construction and nearly 53 lakh have been completed.

(c)&(d) Under the scheme, out of around 114 lakh sanctioned houses pan India, 13,52,471 houses have been sanctioned for the State of Maharashtra, which includes 10,07,263 for EWS, 2,16,882 for LIG and 1,28,326 for MIG. In Mumbai city 2,17,433 houses have been sanctioned of which 2,06,106, 3,458, and 7,869 are for EWS, LIG and MIG categories, respectively. The State/ UT wise details of houses sanctioned as well as amount sanctioned and released for the beneficiaries is annexed.
