Question : TECHNICAL PARAMETERS FOR CLEARANCE



(a) the details of the technical parameters adopted by the Railways to give operational clearance certificate to their rolling stocks particularly on broad gauge routes;

(b) whether different parameters are adopted for different types of rolling stocks on the same route/track; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor?

(a) Provisional speed certificate is issued with 5 years validity on the basis of parameters and computerized simulation of vehicle dynamics of rolling stock, upto a maximum speed as under:

80 km/h for BG Passenger stock.

65 km/h for BG goods stock.

Final speed certificate is issued on the basis of satisfactory results obtained in oscillation trials of rolling stock.

(b) Yes, Madam. Parameters and their permissible values are different for each type of rolling stock.

(c) Permissible values have been decided by the standing criteria committee of Indian Railway’s Research Designs & Standards Organization set up for evolving criteria for assessment of stability of rolling stock on Indian Railways based on service requirements.
