Question : Tribal Forest Dwellers in Delhi

(a) whether there are any recognised tribal forest dwellers in Delhi as of June, 2019 and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether there are any marked ‘Scheduled Areas’ in Delhi as of June, 2019 and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of all Government schemes/programs for the welfare and development of Scheduled Tribes applicable in Delhi?

Answer given by the minister

(a) & (b) No, Sir. There is no notification of Scheduled Area and Scheduled Tribes in Delhi.
(c) The welfare schemes being implemented by this Ministry are meant for Scheduled Tribes in the country. Since there is no notification of Scheduled Tribes in the Delhi, no scheme/programme is implemented in Delhi. However, in the list of a total of 246 institutes eligible for scholarship under the scheme of ‘National Fellowship and Scholarship for higher Education of ST students’, a total of 21Delhi based top class institutes of different streams like IIT, NIT, AIIMS, National Law University, Delhi Technical University etc. are also covered. A project of hostel for ST students at Pandav Nagar, New Delhi being run by Bhartiya Adimjati Sevak Sang, New Delhi and project of Hostel and Computer Training Centre at Srinivaspuri, New Delhi being run by Bharat Sevashram Sangh (Delhi Branch) have also been funded by this Ministry under the scheme of ‘Grant in Aid to Voluntary Organizations working for welfare of STs.’
