Question : Road Connectivity with Non-Major Ports

(a) whether the Government is aware of lack of road connectivity between non-major ports and National Highways (NHs), if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether proposals have been received from various State Governments including Odisha for providing road connectivity to non-major ports with NHs and if so, the details of such proposals received during Twelfth Five Year Plan period;

(c) the follow-up action taken thereon, State-wise during the above period; and

(d) the present status of all such road projects?

(a) to (d) The Ministry has taken up detailed review of National Highways (NHs) Network with a view to improve connectivity in border areas including coastal boundary / connectivity covering development of about 7,000 km of new NHs under Bharatmala Pariyojna in consultation with State Governments. The proposed programme is, inter-alia, envisaged to include development of road connectivity to some non-major ports also. However, project is yet to be formally launched. It is premature to indicate details of road connectivity to non-major ports to be improved under the programme.
