Question : PMAY-U Houses in Tamil Nadu

(a) the number of houses provided under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) to the poor people of the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu during the last three years and the details of expenditure incurred thereon, year-wise;

(b) whether any proposal has been received with regard to providing accommodation to poor people of Madurai district of Tamil Nadu under PMAY-U and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the decision taken by the Government in this regard so far and if not, the reasons therefor ?

(a) Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban [PMAY (U)], 27,959 houses have been sanctioned for the poor people of the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu during the last three years. The details of expenditure incurred thereon during the last three years, year-wise, are as under:

(b) & (c) Based on the project proposals received from the State Government of Tamil Nadu, 74 projects for construction of 34,943 houses involving central assistance of Rs. 496.65 crore have been sanctioned under PMAY (U)in Madurai district. In addition, interest subsidy of Rs. 21.86 crore has been disbursed to 1,148 beneficiaries in Madurai under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme of PMAY (U).
