Question : REVIEW COMMITTEE ON WORKING OF ASI



(a) whether the Government have any plans to constitute a review committee to look after and monitor the works of ASI, circle-wise;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith its composition;

(c) the terms and reference of the Committee;

(d) whether there is a huge administrative gap between the DG`s office and various circles and sub-circles of ASI;

(e) if so, whether there is any plan to appoint any intermediate officers to check and monitor the works carried out in various circles;

(f) if so, the details thereof; and

(g) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (g) A Review Committee constituted by the Government for suggesting measures for restructuring and streamlining the functioning of ASI has already submitted its report. The recommendations of the Review Committee also include reorganization of the circles of the ASI and the appointment of intermediate officers.

The acceptance of these recommendations are contingent on the approvals of the various Ministries concerned.
