(a) whether the Government proposes to set up automatic postal resource centres for sorting
of dak in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise including Maharashtra;
(c) whether the said resource centre is likely to be set up in Maharashtra during the
current year; and
(d) if so, the details thereof, district-wise and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Yes Madam.
(b) It is proposed to replace the existing Automated Mail Processing Centres (AMPC) at
Chennai and Mumbai during XII Plan. It is also proposed to set up AMPCs in Hyderabad and
Bangalore. The Government would also explore the possibilities of setting up of AMPCs in the
following cities during the XII Plan:-
