Question : AYUSH Integrated and Ayurveda Hospitals


(a) the details of operational AYUSH integrated and upcoming Ayurveda hospitals in the country;

(b) whether the government has taken any step to promote the offering of BAMS degree in colleges and increase Ayurvedic medical training through government centers;

(c) if so, details thereof; and

(d) the details of currently available Ayurvedic medicines under Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana and measures taken by the government to increase the range of Ayurvedic alternatives to Allopathy medicines?

(a) Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) there is a provision for financial assistance for setting up of new upto 50 bedded integrated AYUSH Hospitals including Ayurveda. Grant-in-aid is being provided to the State/UT Governments as per the proposals received through the State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) and as per the guidelines of NAM. The State/UT wise number of up to 50-bedded integrated AYUSH Hospitals including Ayurveda approved and operational status is furnished at Annexure-I.

(b) & (c) BAMS degree is being offered through Ayurvedic Medical Colleges only, for which permission is being given by Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. State Government and private bodies can apply for permission to Medical Assessment and Rating Board & National Commission for Indian System of Medicine for the same.

(d) Ministry of Ayush has forwarded to Department of Pharmaceuticals a list of twenty Ayurvedic Medicines for inclusion in the product basket of Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP). The list is furnished at Annexure-II.
