Question : Fund on Stationery

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) the details of Government Departments, Organisations whose job works for providing stationery and printing is being undertaken by his Ministry;
(b) the funds spent on stationery and printing for these departments, organizations, during the last three years, department-wise;
(c) the process of determining stationery requirements of these departments department-wise; and
(d) whether spending on stationery is being retionalized due to the digitization of offices and Government departments and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): The details of Ministries/Departments/Organisations to whom Government of India Stationery Office (GISO) provides stationery is at Annexure I.

Directorate of Printing and its Govt of India Presses undertakes printing jobs of all Govt Ministries/Departments/Organisations. The funds spent on Stationery and Printing by GISO and Directorate of Printing (including its Govt of India Presses) is at Annexure II.


(c)& (d) The process of determining stationery requirement of Ministries/Government Departments/Organisations are done by the respective organisations independent of Ministry of Urban Development. The role of Government of India Stationery Office is limited to servicing the stationery demands received on behalf of various Government Ministries/Departments/Organisations. Ministry of urban Development has no role in rationalising spending on stationery by various offices and Government Departments, as this is administered by the respective offices/Departments itself.
