(a) Many States have not updated the factual position of commissioning Community Water Treatment Plants into the online Integrated Management Information System of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. However, based on review meetings, discussions with State officials, video conferencing, IMIS data, 7,368 Community Water Purification plants, mostly using Reverse Osmosis technology, have been commissioned by the States. Madhya Pradesh State has reported installation of 1,278 number of Community Water Treatment Plants. The State-wise information of installation of Community Water Treatment Plants is at Annexure.
(b) to (d) The power to sanction and implement all types of water supply projects including commissioning of Community Water Treatment Plants has been delegated to the State Governments. Therefore, there is no proposal pending for approval at the Government of India level.
(e) Government of India, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, has advised all the State Governments that Community Water Treatment Plants shall be provided in all remaining 1,311 arsenic affected habitations and 11,285 fluoride affected habitations before March’2017.
