Question : SETTING UP OF AIR STATIONS AND TV TRANSMITTERS

(a) whether the Union Government proposes to set up more All India Radio (AIR) stations and TV transmitters in the country including rural areas;

(b) if so, the State-wise details thereof;

(c) whether any survey has been conducted in this regard;

(d) if so, the details thereof along with the State-wise details of the action taken in this regard;

(e) whether the Union Government has received the proposals from the various State Government including Rajasthan to upgrade Very Low Power Transmitters/ Low Power Transmitters (VLPT/LPT) to High Power Transmitters(HPT); and

(f) if so, the action taken by the Union Government in this regard?

(a) & (b) Prasar Bharati has informed that New Akashvani kendras approved under 11th Plan are under implementation at 88 places in the country. The State-wise details are given in Annexure.

As part of continuing schemes from 11th Plan, following transmitter projects of Doordarshan are under implementation:

J&K
1. HPT, Green Ridge.
2. HPT, Himbotingla.
3. HPT, Natha Top.
4. HPTs, Rajouri (DD1 & DD NEWS).
