(a) the number of states which are eligible for hosting
international sports events;
(b) the reasons for hosting a very few international sports event
in India;
(c) the number of coaches of international level in the country
at present; and
(d) the details of grants issued for infrastructure development at
international level during each of the last three years and
thereafter?

(a) There is no eligibility criteria in this regard. The hosting
of international sports events is decided by the concerned
national/international sports federations at the places where
international standard sports infrastructure, accommodation and
other related facilities are available.
(b) The decision of awarding international sports events to a
country is taken by the international federation of the concerned
sport.
(c) : As per reports available about 1479 coaches have been
engaged by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and about 2000 coaches
by state governments and other organisations, some of whom are of
international level.
(d) The details of central assistance released for infrastructure
development at international level during the last 3 years and the
current year till date under the schemes of Grants for Installation
of Synthetic Surfaces and Creation of Sports Infrastructure are
given in the Annexures I and II, respectively
