(a) : Government of India launched Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders, facilitating supply to agricultural & non-agricultural consumers in the rural areas, strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure in rural areas, including metering at distribution transformers/feeders/consumers. Erstwhile Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana has been subsumed in DDUGJY as Rural Electrification (RE) component. DDUGJY is wider in scope and will facilitate uninterrupted supply of power to rural households and adequate power to agriculture consumers in rural areas.
(b) : Under DDUGJY, 38 new projects have been sanctioned for Bihar in July, 2015 with a total cost of Rs. 5856.35 crore and 172 projects have been sanctioned for Madhya Pradesh in February, 2015 with a total cost of Rs. 2946.24 crore for various rural electrification works. All the projects in the States of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh are in different stages of implementation.
