(a) & (b): Statistical data on cloth consumption in the country is not complied.
(c): Government has introduced through the Union Budget 2010-11 and the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14,
relief and concessional measures including tax concessions, rebates on prevailing duties, exemption
from certain taxes concerning exports, enhancements of credit limits, extension of duty entitlement
scheme etc., to enhance exports of textiles and clothing. Government is implementing the following
schemes for enhancing production, productivity and efficiency of the handloom sector and to enhance
the income and socio-economic status of the weavers through skill upgradation and for providing
infrastructural and marketing support in the 11th Plan period:-
(i) ntegrated Handlooms Development Scheme.
(ii) Marketing and Export Promotion Scheme.
(iii) Handloom Weavers Comprehensive Welfare Scheme.
(iv) Mill Gate Price Scheme.
(v) Diversified Handloom Development Scheme.
