Question : ESTABLISHMENT OF GREENFIELD OIL REFINERY PROJECT AT PARADEEP



(a) whether the land has been acquired for the establishment of Greenfield Oil Refinery Project at Paradeep in Orissa;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the reasons for the delay in the establishment of this Oil Refinery Project; (

(c) the date by which the project is likely to be completed; and

(d) the steps taken to expedite the work?

(a) & (b): Possession of 3219 acre of land has been taken over by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Handing over of balance 117 acre of land by Government of Orissa is expected to be completed shortly. The project was approved as a joint venture (JV) between IOCL and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) in July,1998. However, subsequently KPC withdrew from the project in January,2000.

(c)&(d): The project is progressing as per the schedule approved by the Board of Directors of IOCL and is expected to be completed by August, 2003.
