Question : Rebidding of Stalled Highway Projects

(a) whether it is a fact that the Government is planning to re-bid some of the stalled highway projects in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the loans provided to such projects;

(c) whether it is also a fact that the banks are reluctant to refinance these projects; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with action taken by the Government thereon?

(a) and (b) Yes Madam. Stalled highway projects are in different stages of restructuring and rebidding. After the rebid, the Concessionaire(s)/Contractor(s) successful in the bid can apply for loan to the bank(s), which would be provided by the bank(s) to the Concessionaire(s)/Contractor(s) as per their request, requirement and eligibility, and in conformity with the bank(s) guidelines.

(c) No such instance has come to the notice of the Government so far.

(d) Does not arise.
