(a) The number of IRS officers found involved in corruption cases
during the last three years is 103 (one hundred and three).
(b) Disciplinary proceedings under Rule 14 of the CCS(CCA) Rules have
been initiated against the concerned officers in consultation with the
Central Vigilance Commission. In cases, investigated by the Central
Bureau of Investigation, sanction has been accorded for prosecution in
appropriate cases in consultation with the Central Vigilance Commission.
Keeping in view the gravity of the case and also based on the recommendations
of the Central Bureau of Investigation, the officers have been placed under
suspension, wherever found necessary.
(c)&(d) Except those officers who have attained the age of superannuation,
the others are still in service and proceedings are going on in all cases.
Final action is taken only after the charges are established/dropped. Till
then, in appropriate cases, the officers are placed under suspension. 24
officers of Group lA` were placed under suspension during this period.
@ This figure includes cases which were detected during the calendar
years 2002, 2003 and 2OO4.These cases are at various stages of disciplinary
proceedings, except in 8 cases where major penalty has been levied.
