Question : MoU under FIDF

(a) whether the Government has signed an MoU under Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Fund (FIDF)
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;
(c) the details of the funds sanctioned under this MoU for Tamil Nadu;
(d) the details of the works likely to be done through this MoU in Tamil Nadu;
(e) the time by which it is likely to be started; and

(a) to (f) : Yes, Sir. A Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between the (i) Government of Tamil Nadu, (ii) National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and (iii) Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Government of India, for implementation of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF). The Government of Tamil Nadu has signed the Tripartite MoA for availing the initial concessional finance from NABARD for development of three fishing harbours in the State namely, (i) Tharangampadi in Nagapattinam District, (ii) Thiruvottriyur Kuppam in Tiruvallur District and (iii) Mudhunagar in Cuddalore District. NABARD has informed that they have sanctioned three proposals for construction of Fishing Harbours at Tiruvallur, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu for a term loan of Rs. 150 crore, Rs.108 crore and Rs. 90 crore respectively. The Government of Tamil Nadu has reported that the project works of the said fishing harbours have already commenced based on the administrative approval issued by the State Government.
