Question : Participation of Tribals in Cultural Programmes

(a) whether any cultural programme was held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts in October, 2016;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether tribals from various parts of the country participated in this programme; and

(d) if so, the number of tribals who took part in this cultural event State/UT-wise?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. A “Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (RSM)” was organized from 15th to 24th October, 2016 at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Janpath, New Delhi at a cost of Rs 10.00 crore by the Ministry of Culture through its Zonal Cultural Centres and other autonomous organizations to showcase dance, music, cuisines, art & crafts etc from various parts of the country. The Hon’ble President of India was the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony on 24th October, 2016. Approximately 65-70 folk dance/singing troupes comprising of more than 1600 artistes performed in front of a large number of audience for 10 days.

(c) & (d) Yes, Madam. A total number of 395 tribal artists participated in this cultural event. The State/UT-wise details are as under:
