Question : MITHI RIVER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT



(a) the details of funding cost and the present status of the Mithi River Development Project submitted by the Government of Maharashtra;

(b) the reasons for delay in clearing the said project; and

(c) the time by which it is likely to be cleared?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SAUGATA ROY)

(a) to (c): Government of Maharashtra had sent a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Mithi River Development Project to the Ministry on 8th September, 2010 and the same was sent to Ministry of Water Resources on 27.9.2010 for technical appraisal. Central Water Commission (CWC), Ministry of Water Resources on examination of the revised DPR has asked for hydrological data from the Government of Maharashtra. The project has not been technically cleared by the Ministry of Water Resources due to non-furnishing of hydrological data by the Government of Maharashtra.
