Question : Seats in Higher Educational Institutions

(a) whether the Government is aware about extremely high competition for seats in Central
Government Higher Educational Institutions in Delhi;
(b) whether the Government plans to open new Universities/Colleges/Higher Learning Institutions in
Delhi and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has increased the seats in Higher Educational Institutions in Delhi, if so, the
details thereof; and
(d) the steps taken/being taken to ensure accessibility of higher education in Delhi?

(d) In order to increase access to higher education without the loss of quality, the Open and Distance
Learning Regulation have been issued by UGC which ensures quality education through distance mode
for students desirous of studying at a Delhi based university. For the year 2018-19, the admission taken
in IGNOU has shown an increasing trend as follows:-

This has increased the accessibility of higher education in Delhi.
