Question : PROCUREMENT CLAIMS OF STATES



(a) whether several State Governments have sought early settlement of the claims for procurement of foodgrains from the Food Corporation of India;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard;

(c) whether the Government had directed the State Governments for quick movement of surplus foodgrains to consuming States to free up storage space; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): State Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have requested for settlement of the claims for procurement of foodgrains from the Food Corporation of India (FCI). FCI has been requested to settle the dues of these States at the earliest.

(c) & (d): No, Madam.

The movement of foodgrains is planned by FCI on a monthly basis keeping in view the requirements of various States, storage capacity available, procurement, stocks available and availability of railway rakes, etc.
