(a) & (b): A proposal has been received from Shri S. Jayapal, MLA along with a write-up titled
Scientific opinion on Anantha Victoria Marthanda Varma (AVM) canal with a request that “the
abandoned stretch of AVM Canal between Neerodi and Mandaikadu may be revived and water
transportation between Ernakulam of Kerala to Kanyakumari of Tamilnadu may be restoredâ€.
(c): Pursuant to a techno-economic feasibility study, Government of India has decided that
extension of NW-3 can be considered only after the existing National Waterway is fully developed.
