(a) the total number of engineering colleges in the country granted approval by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE);
(b) the details of engineering colleges approved by AICTE in Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh;
(c) whether some financial irregularities by some engineering colleges have been reported;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the action taken by the Government against such colleges and the concerned houses involved in such cases?

(a) : All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted approval to 6375 engineering colleges during the academic year 2014-15.
(b): The details of the 136 engineering colleges approved by AICTE in Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh are at Annexure.
(c) & (d) : Mittal Institute of Technology, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh had submitted a fake fixed deposit (FDR) vide FDR No. 0001322 dt. 19.7.2007 for Rs. 35.00 Lakhs.
(e) : The matter of submitting fake FDR was reported to CBI and after detailed investigation CBI directed AICTE to take action u/s 177/181 of IPC against Shri N.K. Mittal of Nav Krishna foundation Society after complying with provision provided u/s 195(1) (a) CPC and to take fresh Joint FDR as per existing provision of AICTE process. Accordingly, AICTE filed a criminal complaint bearing no. MJCI1343/12 before the Hon’ble Magistrate, District Court at Bhopal against Shri N.K. Mittal of Nav Krishna foundation Society on 20.9.2012 and taken fresh Joint FDR dated 28.12.2012 for Rs. 35 Lakhs.
